Mabel S. Gaudet 1917-2002 Obituary
Mabel S. Gaudet, 85, of Buckhannon, formerly of Glady Fork, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born March 5, 1917, in Glady Fork, the daughter of the late Hayes and Clydia Simons Cutright.
She was united in marriage on Dec. 17, 1938, to Stanley J. Gaudet, who preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1959.
She is survived by one brother, Hayes Junior “Cutty” Cutright of Buckhannon; one daughter, Mary J. Gaudet Shoulders of Buckhannon; three sons, Larry N. Gaudet of Buckhannon, James S. Gaudet of Lynchburg, Va., and John “Jake” Gaudet of Anchorage, Alaska; and one stepson, Stanley J. Gaudet, Jr., of Los Angeles. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Frederic M. Gaudet; one infant daughter, two grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.
She was a 1945 graduate of Dermaway University in Detroit, was a beautician since Feb. 19, 1945, was the owner of Mabel’s Beauty Salon on East Main Street in Buckhannon, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose, the Elks, the AARP and the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
The viewing will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Tomblyn-whitescarver Funeral Chapel in Buckhannon. The rosary will be recited Thursday at 8 p.m. in the funeral chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father James McCafferty as celebrant. The burial will follow at the Rocky Ford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
