Macy M. Canfield 1936-2021 Obituary
Macy M. Canfield, age 85 years, a resident of Montrose, passed away Monday evening, October 25, 2021 at her home under the care of WV Caring Hospice. She was born March 13, 1936 at Hendricks, WV, a daughter of the late Alby Lee and Bertha V. Phillips Cunningham. On May 1, 1959 at Weston, she was married to Loyal D. Canfield who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah Canfield of Montrose and Sandra Matty of Derwood, MD; two grandchildren, Robin and Sean and one great grandson Harrison. Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents were two brothers, Raymond and Alby Junior Cunningham and five sisters, Fannie Delauder, Geneva Smith, Geraldine Rhodes, Pauline Clark and Allene Boyd. Macy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She graduated Valedictorian from Coalton High School and graduated in 1957 from the Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was a Methodist by faith, having attended the First United Methodist Church in Elkins, Israel United Methodist Church at Kerens and the Timonium Methodist Church in Timonium, Maryland. She was a Precept Bible Study Leader since the early 1970’s and was a member of the Leading Creek Fire Department Auxiliary. Macy’s request for cremation will be honored. Memorial contributions may be made to the Israel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Nick Channell, 1908 Stalnaker Run Road, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Macy. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Macy M. Canfield.
