Mr. Mario H. Toumayan, 75, a resident of Elkins, passed away Friday evening, April 19, 2013, in the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Unit.
He was born May 2, 1937, in Jerusalem, Palastine, a son of the late Hannah B. and Leoni M. Toumayan.
He was married to Clara Toumayan, who preceded him in death, and Patricia Somerville, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are one stepson, Ralph “Joe” Decker, Manassas, Va.; stepchildren, Mike and Debbie Sullivan, Orlando, Fla., Cindy and Roger Holliday, Elkins, Herb and Debbie Schoonover, Parsons, and Sallie Somerville, Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister-in-law, Captolia “Cappy” Edmond of Elkins; several nieces, nephews and grandchildren, and his beloved poodle, Sasha.
Also preceding him in death was one brother, Bishara Toumayan, and an uncle, Thomas Bolichard.
Mario was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College with the class of 1964, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed for many years by the West Virginia Department of Highways as an Engineer of bridges and highways. He was at times a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Moose Club.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Unit, 129 Diamond St., Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Toumayan.
