Martha “Pauline” Nay Young, 72, of Route 3, Elkins, died at 2:13 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health for the past 20 years and death was attributed to respiratory disease.
Mrs. Young was born April 25, 1929, in Harding, a daughter of the late Alfred Detroit Nay and Ruby Wilson Nay.
On June 18, 1947, in Junior, she married Hayward Joseph Young, who preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1982.
Surviving are a son, Charles Edward Young, Elkins; four daughters, Linda L. Gordon and husband, Donald, Elkins, Patty A. Young, Elkins, Loretta Jenkins, Lucasville, Ohio, and Lanette Arbogast and husband, George, Elkins; two brothers, Joseph Edward Nay, South Carolina, and John Robert Nay, North Carolina; three sisters, Jacquelyn Waina, California, Shirley Bohon, Gilman, and Anna Claire Koon, Grafton; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild and nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Joseph Young; a daughter, Patsy Jean Young; a brother, Alfred Detroit Nay Jr.; and three sisters, her twin Aileen Nay, Betty Jean Kelly and Charlotte Nay.
Mrs. Young was a homemaker. She attended the one-room school in Harding. She was a member of Elkins First Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Lohr-barb-vance Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert L. Baer officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
