Marvie Elizabeth Mallow Carr, 99, a former resident of Whitmer and a patient in Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002, in the emergency department of Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 16, 1903, at Whitmer, a daughter of the late George and Clementine Nelson Mallow.
She was married to Dewey Russell Carr, who preceded her in death in 1966.
She is survived by five sons, Kelly Carr, Elkins, Shelby Carr, Holly, Mich., Hubert Carr, Everett, Wash., Trevy Carr, Jacksonville, Fla., and Willy Lambert of Whitmer; one brother, Snowden Mallow, Whitmer; two sisters, Erma Armentrout, Whitmer, and Eva Marstiller of Dailey; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ernest Carr; four brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Carr was a homemaker and a Mennonite by faith.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Tuesday morning, Mrs. Carr will be moved to Whitmer Church of God, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour. Pastor Steve Bailey will officiate and interment will follow in Laurel Hills Cemetery near Whitmer.
