MARY KATHRYN “KATE” WHITE DAY, age 75 years, a resident of the Elk Community, Hendricks, WV departed this life early Tuesday morning, February 9, 2010 at the Cortland Acres Nursing home at Thomas, WV.
She was born Friday, January 18, 1935 at Randolph County, a daughter of the late Woodrow White and Hallie Armstrong Rosier. During 1955 at Oakland, MD, she was married to Jimmie Lewis Day, who survives. They celebrated fifty four years of marriage.
Also surviving are two sisters, Joan Akers and husband Mickey of Montrose and Sarah Wolford of Clover Run and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are one brother, Dick Rosier; two sisters; Hildra Dae Rosier and Yvonne Johnson.
She attended the schools of Tucker Co. She was a former employee of Nella’s Nursing Home of Elkins and the former Hill’s Restaurant and she was a homemaker. She along with her husband then moved to Pasadena, MD, where they lived for over thirty years and returned to WV during 1988. She was a Methodist by faith.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 12:30PM. Pastor Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
