Melvin Lee Mick Nestor 1933-2002 Obituary
Melvin Lee “Mick” Nestor, 69, a resident of the Fork Mountain community, Parsons, departed this life Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2002, at his home.
He had been in his usual health and death was attributed to heart failure.
He was born March 28, 1933, at Hambleton, a son of the late Dewey Clifford Roscoe Nestor and Sally M. Moyers Nestor.
On Aug. 28, 1954, he was married to the former Lucy J. Harman, who preceded him in death on March 27, 1997.
Surviving are two sons, Garrett Lee Nestor and Leonard Dale Nestor, both of Fork Mountain; three daughters, Betty “Jeanie” Whitehead, Sand Creek, Mich., Vickie Bodkins, Elkins, and Nancy K. Shaffer, Fork Mountain; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Ann Nestor; three brothers, Allen Nestor, Leonard Nestor and Clem Moyer; and one sister, Velma Nestor Lewis.
He attended the Hambleton grade school and the one-room school at Fork Mountain.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a former employee of the former Parsons Woolen Mill and Kingsford Charcoal Co. of Parsons, and was a carpenter.
He enjoyed working with wood and he had a great love for animals.
The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Monday at 11 a.m.
The Rev. David Fuller will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery.
