Merritt W Lambert 1935-2011 Obituary
Merritt W. Lambert, 76, of Wadsworth, OH passed away, unexpectedly, Saturday, January 21, 2012.
He was born on April 6, 1935 in Huttonsville, WV to the late Jessie “Tobe” and Mabel Lambert – Scott. Mr. Lambert served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division and was retired from Quality Castings in Orrville, OH.
After retiring he had a passion for working on and restoring old cars that included a 1955 Chevy, a 1934 Ford and a 1948 Chevy Pickup.
He also enjoyed caring for his lawn, gardening and canning what he grew and had a love for his grand-dogs; Dudley, Junior, Sparky and Maddie.
He was preceded in death by four children Wayne, Dena, Greg and Karen and his son Richard’s girlfriend Terry Radca. Merritt is survived by his wife Ruth with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage, his daughter and son-in-law; Jody and Carl Hafner of Toledo and son Richard Lambert of Cambridge, OH. He is also survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Joseph Teter of Wadsworth, Judy and Excel Lanham of Mill Creek, WV, ad Linda and Oscar Magyar of Wadsworth, and three brothers and sisters-in-law Kevin and Phyllis Scott, Elwood and Donna Scott all of Mill Creek, WV and Benny and Betty Scott of Akron and his very dear friend Stevie Henthorn who often helped him out.
The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Wednesday at the Hilliard-rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth and on Friday from 11-2 at the Randolph Funeral Home, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend, WV where a funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM.
Interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville, WV
