Mildred Brown, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born July 9, 1919 in Burnsville, WV, a daughter of the late Hayward Troy and Blanch Kuhl Harper. On July 20, 1947 she married Harry Junior Brown who preceded her in death on November 6, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Terry Lambert Brown; three sisters, Mabel Singleton, Glennis Postelwait and Betty Jean Harper; two brothers, Wilbur and Stanley Harper and one granddaughter, Dinah Hoover. She is survived by two sons, Harold Shepard and wife Patty J. of Beverly, WV and Jerry Fred Brown and wife Deloris of Sutton, WV; one daughter, Loretta Jean Hoover and husband William H., Jr. of Weston, WV; two grandsons, David A. Shepard of Huttonsville, WV and Christopher Brown of Craigsville, WV; seven granddaughters, Sonya Penson of Montrose, WV, Barbara Carroso of Elkins, WV, Pamela Duffield of Frametown, WV, Amy Gray of Gassaway, WV, Melissa Knight of Tallmadge, OH, Norma Jean Lopez-flores of Harrisonburg, VA and Anita Joann Channing of Weston, WV and twenty-one great grandchildren. Mrs. Brown was a cook for the Upshur County Board of Education at East Main Street School. She was a member of the Retired School Employees. Friends will be received Friday, March 29, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Martin R. Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the K of P Cemetery at Burnsville, WV. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
