Nellie Rillia Herndon Knicely, 88, of Eden, died Sunday, April 28, 2002.
She was born April 4, 1914, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Charles Arnett and Minnie Susan Riley Herndon.
She was married to Owen Levi Knicely, who passed away Aug. 16, 1977.
She is survived by one daughter, Merle Mildred Knicely Walton and husband, Charles Franklin Walton, of Eden; one brother, Russell Paul Herndon of Hughsville, Md.; one sister, Willie Heaster Herndon Bennett of Weston; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Mildred Herndon Lee and Della Herndon; and four brothers, Charlie Herndon, William Junior Herndon, Arnett Dayton Herndon and Raese Simon Herndon.
Mrs. Knicely was a member of the Non Denominational Church at Canaan. She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers and was loved by all.
Friends will be received at Robert M. Vincent Funeral Home, French Creek, Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Marvin Riffle officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
