NETTIE IRENE WHETZEL NESTOR CARTER, age 74 years, a resident of the Pheasant Run Community, Kerens, WV departed this life late Sunday evening, June 26, 2011 at her home.
She was born Tuesday, June 22, 1937 at Romney, WV, a daughter of the late Ivan William and Elva Lenora Virginia Fink Whetzel. She was twice married, first to Clyde Franklin Nestor, who survives and then on August 12, 1993 at Fredericksburg, VA, she was married to Massie Anderson Carter, Jr., who preceded her in death, December 8, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, David Wayne Nestor and Mark Allen Nestor, both of Mt. Zion; two step daughters, Vanessa Haskell and husband Sam and Karen Carter, all of VA; one half sister, Josephine Hyatt and husband Paul of Washington, Indiana; six grandchildren, Barbara and John Nestor, Cynthia Waybright, Crissy and Billy Nestor, Dustin Nestor; two step grandchildren, Sam and Sean Haskell; and six great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are two sons, Joseph Franklin Nestor and William Floyd Nestor; one daughter, Barbara Mae Nestor; and two half sisters, Virginia Pennington and Ellen Whetzel.
She attended the schools of Burlington, Romney and Baltimore, MD. She was a homemaker and she was a devoted Christian. She loved to play music and sing.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 1:30PM. The Rev. Alby Cunningham and The Rev. Kelly Simmons will officiate and interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Clover Run, St. George, WV.
