NEVADA VALLIE “VADA” JOLLY CARR, age 74 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Wednesday January 20, 2010 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas.
She was born Monday, May 6, 1935 at Parsons, WV a daughter of the late Cover L. and Vallie Virginia “Gin” Isner Jolly. On March 17, 1962 at Red House, Md, she was married to Eugene F. Carr, who survives at Manassas Park, VA
Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy Lynn Grant of Culpepper, VA, Cindy Lou Carr of Parsons; two brothers, Ronald L. Jolly of Thomas, Donald “Oop” Jolly and wife Judy of Parsons; two grandsons, James and David Grant and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are one brother, David Theodore “Teddy” Jolly and one sister, Grace B. Poling.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1954. She was an employee of the former West Virginia Studio at Parsons and the former Dorman Mills. She was a former employee of West Gate Elementary School at Manassas Park, VA and she was a Clerk for the Magruders Grocery Store of VA, retiring in 2001. She was an avid doll collector, loved ceramics and watching TV and she loved her animals. She was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church at Parsons.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:30AM. The Rev. John Morrison will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
