Nevin Isaac Day 1925-2001 Obituary
Nevin Isaac Day, 75, a resident of Israel Church Road, Montrose, departed this life at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston.
He had been in declining health.
He was born July 16, 1925, at Horton, a son of the late Isaac Cecil Day and Ourtilia “May” Mallow Day.
On Dec. 31, 1955, in Elkins, he married the former Phyllis Jean Coffman, who survives in Montrose.
Also surviving are two sons, Nevin Lynn Day and James Russell “Rusty” Day, both of Montrose; four brothers, Earl Day and wife Mamion, Louisville, Ohio, Leonard “Mike” Day and wife, Emma, Gerald “Whitey” Day and wife, Joy, David Day and wife, Wilda, all of Elkins; four sisters, Rose Pingley and husband, Cecil, South Amherst, Ohio, Betty Cook and husband, Paul, Louisville, Ohio, Geraldine Cook, Elkins, and Leeranna Everhart, Montrose, and several nieces and nephews.
Four brothers, Homer, Frank, Glen and Clyde Day, and three sisters, Gertrude White, Delphia Humphrey and Zona Frank, preceded him in death.
He attended the schools of Glenmore, worked for the former Mason Lumber Co. for many years and the former Allegheny Lumber Co., and retired in 1987 from the Elkins Lumber Co.
He was a farmer and a Protestant.
Friends will be received at the Lohr-Barb-Vance Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
At 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, final rites will be conducted.
The Rev. Terry Cannon will officiate and cremation will follow.
Scattering of the cremains will take place at a later date on the family farm.
