JOHNSON, Okey Virgil – 63, of Cleveland, formerly of Birch River, Nicholas County, died Monday in Sutton General Hospital after a short illness.
He had been visiting relatives in Braxton County when he was hospitalized.
He was a retired miner. Surviving are his widow, Lenora; three sons, Robert, Edward and James, all of Cleveland; seven daughters, Mrs. Gladys Tinney of Sutton, Mrs. Roma Cunningham of Birch River, Mrs. Lola Fowler, Mrs. Blanch Lawson, Mrs. Helen Rowe, Mrs. Jean Criss, all of Cleveland, and Mrs. Betty Miller of Tioga; a brother, Russell of Birch River; a sister, Mrs. Flora Hill of Clay; 39 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Union Church at Birch River by Rev. Odley O’Dell, with burial in Baughman Cemetery.
The body is at Marple Funeral Home Sutton.
