Olivia Faye “Libby” Montoney Vance, age 75 years, a resident of Whitmer, WV departed this life Friday afternoon May 3, 2013 at her home in Whitmer with her family by her side. She was born Sunday May, 30 1937 at Cumberland, MD, a daughter of the late Lillian Mae Montoney Browne. She was raised by her late step grandparents, Walter and Martha Teter. On September 10, 1955 at Oakland, MD she was married to Richard David Vance, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Terry Allen Vance, Paul Eugene Vance and wife Denise and David Neal Vance, all of Whitmer; two daughters, Cindy Lucille Sponaugle and husband Leonard of Whitmer and Kathy Christine Ketterman and husband Buck of Coalton; three sisters, Shelva Jean Hesson, Joann St.Clair and Lois Kay Dozier and husband Johnny, all of Ohio; six grandchildren, Anthony, Andrea, Josh, Zach, Bryan and Jennifer; five great grandchildren, Dustin, Emily, Lance, Hunter and Bentlee; three step grandchildren, Kelley, Holly and Debbie; two step great grandchildren, Cherilyn and Chayse.
She attended the schools of Durbin. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Whitmer Church of God, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Y.P.E. Leader, play director, member of the Ladies Aux., choir member and custodian of the Church. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and great friend to all.
The family will receive friends at the Whitmer Church of God from 5 to 8 PM, Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the church, Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Earl Bible, The Rev John Demorest and The Rev. James Purnell will officiate and interment will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer, WV.
