OSKAR WILLIAMS, age 90 years, a resident of Elkins, WV, and a well known watchmaker, departed this life early Wednesday morning September 22, 2010 at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Home in Clarksburg.
He was born Friday, December 19, 1919 at Diana, WV, Webster Co, a son of the late Corneilous “Neil” Williams and Ella Allman Williams. He was twice married, first On March 26, 1942 at Elkins, WV, he was married to the former Arlene L. Armstrong, who preceded him in death Jan. 29, 1985, and second he was married to the former Frances Rucker, who also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Lawrence “Neil” Williams and wife Rosanna of Elkins, Oskar “Keith” Williams of Hagerstown; three daughters, Carol L. Williams of Elkins, Donna E. Pitsenberger and husband Thomas of Beverly, Debra J. Leary of Elkins, one step daughter Judy of Pensacola, Fl; one brother, Camden Williams of PA; nine Grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are one son, Ronald Warren Williams, one sister, Mary Hannah and one grandson, Terry W. Williams.
He was a graduate of Buchannan Upshur High School with the Class of 1938.
He was an employee of the former Stanford Jewelers for over fifty years, and worked part time for Thompsons Jewelers and Sharps Jewelers. He was a Veteran of the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the V.F.W. American Legion and the Command V.F.W. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was devoted to the Veterans organizations and served every post that he was elected to. He enjoyed serving on the Voice of Democracy Team and he served with the Burial Detail for over twenty years. He was a Methodist by faith.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Friday from 6 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday September 25, 2010 at 3 PM. The Rev. Barry Moll will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, where the H.W. Daniel’s Post #29, American Legion and the Tygart’s Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military rites. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for OSKAR WILLIAMS.
