Pauline “Skip” Hodgkiss, age 83, of San Diego, CA, where she had been residing with her son and family for the last 19 years, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Country Hills Nursing Home in San Diego. She was born July 18, 1930 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Paul C. and Hazel Lipscomb Freeman. On June 29, 1950 she married Francis “Fran” Hodgkiss who preceded her in death on June 28, 1990. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Jane Freeman and JoAnne Rill and one brother, Brent Freeman. She is survived by one son, Rick Hodgkiss and wife Carole Beth Chamberlain of San Diego; two granddaughters, Corrin Stevens and husband Gabriel of El Cajon, CA and Tara Fitzpatrick and husband Thomas of San Diego and one great grandson, Jack Stevens of El Cajon. Mrs. Hodgkiss was a Deputy County Clerk in the Upshur County Courthouse. Pauline will be most remembered for her love of family, friends, God’s creation as well as for her unlimited generosity. A Graveside Service will be held 11 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hinkleville, WV with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
