OBITUARY: PAULINE THORN Pauline Thorn, 99, a resident of Mansfield Place, Philippi, and a former resident of Rt. #2, Belington, died Saturday, January 21, 2012, in Mansfield Place, following an extended illness. She was born April 29, 1912, at Dartmoor, Barbour County, a daughter of the late Charles Lee and Minnie Belle (Skidmore) Kittle. On May 25, 1925, she was married to Arle Eugenis Thorn, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1992. Surviving are one daughter, Janet Lantz and husband, John, Fredericktown, OH; four grandchildren, Sandi Thorn (Jeff) Waller, Arlington, TN, Candace Thorn (Ken) Wright, Collierville, TN, Johanna Lantz, Oakwood, OH, Jill Lantz (Scott) Beuhler, Cincinnati, OH; nine great grandchildren, J. C. , Jeremy and Chris Waller; Merideth and Alec Snead; Britton and Kellon Hibbard; Jack and Sam Buehler; three step-great grandchldren, Caron, Coleman and Taylor Wright, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Thorn, Memphis, TN. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles “Jack” Thorn; by four sisters, Carrie Kittle, Bessie Marie Chenoweth, Luella Belle Coberly and Marguerite Amanda Poling; and by three brothers, Murl Kittle, Adrian Kittle and Doyle Kittle. Mrs. Thorn was a homemaker. She was a member of the Corley United Methodist Church and Ladies Aide. She enjoyed crocheting and solving crossword puzzles and will be remembered as a great cook. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 25, from the Corley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Don Fitzwater and the Rev. James “Oz” Gray will officiate and interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday and at the Corley United Methodist Church from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M., the funeral hour, on Wednesday.
