PAULINE VIRGINIA COLLETT “POLLY” ARMSTRONG, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning, February 23, 2011 at her home.
She was born October 8, 1927 at Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Charles H. “Charlie” Collett and Stella Hill Collett. On February 5, 1947 at Buckhannon, WV she was married to Clarence Dale “C.D.” Armstrong, who preceded her in death March 15, 2005. Surviving are one son, Charles “David” Armstrong and wife Sherry Jo, Elkins; one brother, Ken Collett, Paden City; five grandchildren, Brian George, Buckhannon; Eric Armstrong, Shepherdstown; Stephanie Shank, Ellamore; Daniel Armstrong, and Anna Armstong, both of Elkins; four great grandchildren, Carly Shank, Jonathan Shank, Sherry Shank, and Sophia Armstong, all of Elkins.
Preceding her in death are one daughter, Michele Colette Armstrong George and one great granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Chewning.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1945, was a member of the Randolph Chapter # 74, Order of the Eastern Star; the Elkins Woman’s Club, the First Ward School PTA and the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church. She had worked for the former Reidboard Brothers, the Craig Ford Garage, the Goldberg Department Store and was the Bookkeeper for A & G Appliance Mart.
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. William E. Calhoun will officiate and entombment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
