Phillip Lester Wegman, 63, a resident of Valley Bend passed from this life Monday, October 27, 2014 at Davis Medical Center in Elkins. Phil was born Wednesday, December 27, 1950 in Valley Bend, a son of the late Charles Wegman and Leila Markley Wegman. He had attended the schools of Randolph County, and had worked as a coal miner and then as a timber cutter for Petrice Lumber. Known as “the tree guy”, Phil was a master at cutting timber. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeler riding, and raising a big garden. Friends and family would often “go see Phil” for advice or for some of his home made wine. Left to cherish Phil’s memory are his four sons, Lester Wegman and wife, Rebecca of Mill Creek, Charles Wegman and wife, Kendra of Valley Bend, Michael Wegman and fiancé, Carrie Davis of Pickens, and Gregory Wegman and wife Sheena of Valley Bend, seven siblings, Ettie Grey, Junior Wegman and wife, Shirley, John Wegman and wife, Sandy, Rex Wegman and wife, Sonya, Stan Wegman and wife, Pam, Mary Jones and husband, Tom, and Robert Wegman and wife, Debbie, ten grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Phil in death was his lifelong companion, Barb Wegman, siblings, Jim Wegman, Franklin Wegman, Edith Byrd, and Bill Wegman, and his brother in law, Robert Grey. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 3P–5P. Phil’s request for cremation will then be honored.
