PHILLIPPINE LOUISE “PEANNEY“ HUMPHREY WAYBRIGHT, age 82 years, a former resident of the Pheasant Run Community, Kerens, WV, and more recently a resident of Elkins, WV, departed this life Saturday evening, November 13, 2010 at her home.
She was born Tuesday, July 17, 1928 at Clover, Tucker Co, WV, a daughter of the late Fitzhugh Humphrey and Bessie K. Rhoades. On May 17, 1945 at Oakland, MD, she was married to James Albert Waybright, who preceded her in death April 18, 1989.
Surviving are three sons, James Parker Waybright of Valley Bend, Michael David Lamb of Parsons, Charles W. “Bill” Humphrey and wife Cynthia of Montrose; one daughter, Norma Kerens Mino and husband Eric of OH; one sister, Emma Waybright of Beverly; one grandson, Michael James Waybright of Montrose; one granddaughter, Skyler Lamb of Parsons and one great grandson, Tristan Waybright of OH.
Preceding her in death are three brothers, Floyd “Boots” Humphrey, Ellis Parker Humphrey and Charles Humphrey; and five sisters, Ruth Evans, Erma Jean Stahl, Lucille Humphrey, Olive Marie Humphrey and Ardenia Wilson.
She attended the Hamrick School. She along with her husband owned and operated the Main Street Grocery in Parsons and she was an employee of the Tucker Co. Board of Education as Head Cook from 1963 until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Riverview Chapel Church of Porterwood and attended the New Life Fellowship at Glenmore. She was an avid hunter, gardener and seamstress.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 1 PM. The Rev Keith Carr will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons Family Cemetery at Shavers Fork.
