Preston Lane Burrows 1989-2021 Obituary
Preston Lane Burrows, 31, a resident of Montrose, passed from this life Wednesday, August 25, 2021. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
Preston was born Wednesday, September 27, 1989, in Elkins, a son of Rickie Burrows, Melody Ann Carver, and Howard Gooden and wife Suzie.
Also left to cherish his memory are maternal grandparents, Paul and Nancy Carver, four brothers, Blake Carver and companion Jessie Rinard, Jake, Don and Ron Gooden, aunt, Patti Hines and husband Rick, uncle, Paul Carver Jr. and wife Michelle, aunt, Veronica Mullenax and companion Richard Shafer, several cousins, and his church family, especially Pastor Terry Cannon and his wife Josephine who have been a part of Preston’s life since his birth.
Preceding him in death was one nephew, Drake Carver.
Preston was a loving yet troubled young man. He had a mental health disorder as well as substance abuse issues, all in the hopes of quieting his mind. Preston lost the battle by taking his own life. The hurt, pain and sorrow of a lifetime haunted him like a rabid beast.
He could not recognize his worth to his family or himself. We will spend the remainder of our days loving him, remembering him, and speaking of him often. And one day we hold to the promises of our Heavenly Father that we will see him again. We know that despite his history he knew his savior, and his savior knew the battle raging inside of Preston. Our comfort is knowing that his battle is over, and he is at peace.
We will use this unfortunate opportunity as a platform to remind each of you, please, don’t give up. Your life matters. And if the people around you don’t support you, encourage you, protect you and love you, find a new tribe. Someone loves you! YOU MATTER!
“If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever” Love, Mom.
The family’s request for cremation was honored. A celebration of Preston’s life will be held at a later date.
