Rachel Irene Summerfield Gragg 1931-2022 Obituary
Mrs. Rachel Irene Summerfield Gragg, 90, a former resident of Nestorville, West Virginia, and more recently of the Mansfield Place at Philippi, West Virginia departed this life Friday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2022, in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born Nov. 22, 1931, at Tucker County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Otis and Bessie Long Summerfield.
She was married to Wayne Edward Gragg, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Patty Bentley and companion, David Thorne, of Belington; one son, Robert Gragg of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one sister, Ruby Kisamore and husband, Danny, of Mt. Royal, West Virginia; two brothers, Lonnie Summerfield and wife, Rosemary, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Doyle Summerfield and wife, Jeanette, of Nestorville, West Virginia.
Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Jessica Donachy, Cory Marshall, Duane Gragg, Grace Struss and Joy Vilota; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Dingess; one son-in-law, Charles Arvil “Duke” Dingess; and one daughter-in-law, Carol Gragg.
Mrs. Gragg attended the schools of Tucker County and was a Methodist by faith. She was a pharmacy tech and for over 30 years she was employed with the Braddock Hospital from which she retired.
She enjoyed word search puzzles, and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Laurel Mountain Post 410 in Belington and for many years she would get up early in the morning to wave at the school bus that would pass by her home. She was a loving and caring lady and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg St. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will then follow in the Tacy Crossroads Cemetery at Tacy.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks are recommended while paying respects in the Funeral Home.
