Rachel Violet Rippey, 87, of Bismarck, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
She was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Bismarck. She was the daughter of the late Millard Cosner and Stella Moreland Cosner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Carl Rippey in 1944. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Eleanor Wykle; one son, Gene Rippey; two sisters, Milla Likens and Beulah Kitzmiller; and two brothers, infant Lorenzo Cosner and Marvin Cosner. She was the last member of her immediate family.
She was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. She was employed at the Mt. Storm Lodge for several years and more recently for the Grant County Commission on Aging. She had been a resident of Grant County Nursing Home since May 2000.
Surviving are three sons and spouses, Ralph and Joan Rippey of Delran, N.J., Robert and Marianna Rippey of Vienna, Va., and Wayne and Jane Rippey of Keyser; one daughter and spouse, Linda and Harlan Yokum of Morgantown; one son-in-law, Charles Wykle of Asheville, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Iris Jean Rippey of Lexington, S.C; one sister-in-law, Annie Evans, Kents Store, Va.; one brother-in-law, Greeley Rippey of Greeley, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
