Rev. Larry Dale Williams 1950-2002 Obituary
The Rev. Larry Dale Williams, 51, a resident of Pomona, Kan., died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at the Indian Creek Nursing Home in Overland Park, Kan.
He was born Dec. 5, 1950, in Morgantown, the son of the late Rev. Gerald Vacle Williams and Virginia Ellen George Williams.
On Oct. 5, 1974, at Cleveland, Ohio, he was united in marriage with Kathy Summerfield, who survives at home.
Surviving are two daughters, Crystal G. Williams, Pomona, Kan., and Kimberly D. Williams, at home; three sisters, Linda E. Mitchell, Buckeye, Ariz., Brenda White, Elkins, and Sandra Honeycutt, Windham, Ohio; two brothers, Gerald C. Williams, Pomona, Kan., and Paul L. Williams, Edgerton, Kan.; one granddaughter, Makayla D. Williams, Pomona, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Williams had been a resident of Pomona since 1984. He previously lived in Elkins for many years and for 12 years in Cleveland, Ohio.
He obtained his general education degree.
He was employed as a quality control technician at Dot Label Inc., in Gardner, Kan., where he worked for 15 years. He was previously a press operator for 3M in Cleveland from 1969 to 1975, was a construction worker for Wolf Creek Power Plant from 1984 to 1985, and was a security guard for Spring in Gardner from 1985 to 1987.
He was ordained as a minister in the Apostolic Church in 1972.
The Rev. Williams will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary until the funeral hour at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Pastor R. Todd Nance of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church will officiate and interment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona, Kan. The family suggests memorials to the Williams’ Children’s Education Fund, in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kan.
