Rita Doris Owens, 69, a resident of Holly Meadows community, Parsons, departed this life Saturday afternoon, Sept. 7, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to congestive heart failure.
She was born Sept. 17, 1932, at Hooksett, N.H., a daughter of the late Oscar Duhaime and Flora Prince Duhaime.
On Dec. 18, 1954, at Manchester, N.H., she was married to Allen “Roy” Owens, who survives. They had celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Jeffrey R. Owens and wife, Phyllis, Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Amy L. Owens, Parsons; one brother, Patten and wife, Pauline, Hooksett, N.H.; three grandchildren, Tabatha L. Teets and Christopher A. Arbaugh, both of Parsons, and Kristina Owens, Dallas, Texas; two nephews, Scott Patten and Brian Patten, Hooksett, N.H.; and several cousins.
She was a graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s High School at Nashua, N.H., and was a graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s College at Hooksett, N.H., with a major in mathematics and a degree in education. She was an elementary school teacher at the Smith Road School in Manchester, N.H., for 30 years. She attended Our Lady of Mercy Church in Parsons.
Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. On Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home parlor, a prayer service will be recited by the Rev. Father Lino Ebejer. On Wednesday, Mrs. Owens will be moved to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Father Lino Ebejer will preside and interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery at St. George.
