Robert Lynn “Bob” Chewning Sr 1950-2022 Obituary
Mr. Robert Lynn “Bob” Chewning Sr., 71, a resident of Belington, departed this life early Thursday morning, March 24, 2022, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1950, in Randolph County, West Virginia, a son of the late Leslie Lee and Catherine Louise George Chewning.
He was twice married, first to Pamela S. McDonald Chewning, who preceded him in death on April 20, 2002, and second on Jan. 2, 2003, to Christina Diane “Tina” Mallow Chewning, who survives at their home in Belington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Robert Lynn Chewning Jr. of Elkins, Amanda R. Maynard and husband, Tommy, of Elkins, and Raleigh L. Chewning at home, two stepchildren, Melissa Harlan and husband, Kenneth, of Mobile, Alabama, and Hannah Bonner and companion, Mark Bennett, of Elkins; and and a mother-in-law, Mary Mallow of Mabie.
Additional survivors include three grandchildren, Taylor B. Maynard, Brayden Maynard and Roxanne Chewning; and one stepgrandchild, Rachel Harlan.
Also surviving are his siblings, Russell Lee Chewning of Reedsville, Roselyn Chewning Russell and husband, Ben, of Virginia, Carl George Chewning of Elkins and Cathy Elaine Chewning Campbell and husband, Bob, of French Creek; two half-sisters, Elvalee George Dobrin of Reynoldsville, Ohio, and Sandra Thomas Herston of Canal Fulton, Ohio; and one half-brother, Roemer Lynn Chewning and wife, Norma, of Tallmadge, Ohio.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he is preceded in death by one half-sister, Joan Baranek.
Bob attended the schools of Randolph County and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was the owner operator of Bob’s Home Repair, and was a long-time licensed residential contractor. He had a strong work ethic, and was very dedicated to his construction trade.
He was a member of the Laurel Mountain V.F.W. Post 410 in Belington, and was a protestant by faith. Bob wanted to make sure he thanked all of his loyal customers that he served over the years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56. N. Brandenburg St. in Belington, on Sunday March 27, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Julie Davis officiating. Interment will then follow in the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 96 of Belington and the United States Army
