Roger Lee Wilson, Sr. 66, of Norton, WV entered into eternal rest Sunday July 18,2010 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV surrounded by family. He was born Wednesday December 22, 1943 in Junior, WV, a son of the late Burl “Bull Dog” and Dona Goldie Schaffer Wilson. He was of the Methodist faith. As a youngster he attended the schools of Barbour County, WV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved to play poker. On Friday September 4, 1970 at the Junior Methodist Church in Junior, WV he married the love of his life Deloris Burns. On Sunday December 29, 1963 he entered the US Army in Fairmont, WV. During his time in the Army he had several stateside assignments as well as three tours of duty in Vietnam, one tour of duty in Korea and one tour of duty in Germany. He was an instructor at AIT School in Fort Dix, NJ. Twenty years later on Saturday December 31, 1983 in Fort Dix, NJ, he retired from military life with the rank of staff sergeant. While in the military he traveled to several places but none was like his home of West Virginia. On Sunday January 1, 1984 he returned home to the mountains of West Virginia. Roger was a member of the DAV and the American Legion. The brightest stars in his life were his grandchildren; Jesse, Damian, Brianna and Kasey whom he adored tremendously. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Shirley Tunsing, Marilyn Wilson and Doris Jean Sponaugle and six brothers: twin infant brothers Billy and Bobby Wilson, Charles Wilson, Sonny Wilson, James Allen Wilson and Joe Wayne Wilson. Left to cherish his memories are his wife: Deloris Burns Wilson of Norton, WV; one daughter: Lisa Elaine Feaster and husband Sidney “Skipper” of Elkins, WV; one son: Roger Lee Wilson, Jr. of Norton, WV; four very special grandchildren: Jesse Lee Sampson, Damian Michael Sampson, Brianna Paige Feaster and Kasey Brooke Feaster all of Elkins, WV; one sister: Joyce Lane Louk and husband Fred of Richmond, VA; one sister-in-law: Carol Smith and husband Bill of Norton, WV; four brothers-in-law: Randy Burns and wife Maria of Ravenna, OH, Audrey “Gabby” Burns and wife Rebecca of Valley Bend, WV, Donnie Burns and wife Cindy of North Jackson, OH and Wayne Burns of Hazelwood, WV; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews and his beloved Siberian Husky: “Snowy” Polar Bear Wilson. At Roger’s request his body will be cremated. The family will have a Celebration of Life Saturday August 21, 2010 at 11:00a.m. at Camp Pioneer 4-h Camp located at Scott’s Lake Road in Beverly, WV.
