ROSA MAE POLING HARRIS, age 91 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life late Wednesday evening, April 7, 2010 at her home. She had been in declining health for the past two years.
She was born Friday, July 12, 1918 at Barbour County, WV a daughter of the late Isaac Herman Poling and Lena Mae Gardner Poling. On May 4, 1948 at Elkins, WV she was married to Oman Grant Harris who preceded her in death, September 26, 1982. Surviving are one sister, Minnie Louise Albright, Elkins; two nieces, Beverly Blair Albright Leighton, Clive, Iowa; Deborah Lane Albright Phillips, Elkins; one great niece, Emily Nicole Jones Phillips, Beverly; and one great nephew, Michael Blair Leighton, Clive, Iowa.
Preceding her in death are six brothers, Harold Lee, Frances Jacob, Clifford, Theadore Herman, Edgar Allen and Clarence “Jim” Poling and five sisters, Helen Rosey; Magie Poling Menear; Margie Poling; Hazel Poling; and Chloe Poling.
She attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked for Montgomery Wards and Ward Auto Parts and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Harris’ request for cremation was honored. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Maplewood Memorial Mausoleum at Elkins. WV. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and entombment will follow. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for ROSA MAE POLING HARRIS.
