Ruby Lee Ogden, 87, formerly of French Creek, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, in Austin, Texas, where she had been residing near her daughter.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1932, in French Creek, a daughter of the late Harry William and Nellie Myrtle Riffle Long.
On May 2, 1954, she was united in marriage to James Junior “Red” Ogden, who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 2015.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Michael S. Ogden; one grandson, Omri Nathan Ogden; one son-in-law, George Anthony Lewis; and an infant brother.
She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Lewis of Austin; one granddaughter, Abigail and husband, David Jeffries, of French Creek; and five grandchildren, Ryleigh Kate Jeffries, Jeremiah Benjamin Jeffries, William Nathan Ogden, Lillian Faith Ogden and Lindsey Grace Ogden.
Ruby loved to read and was an avid traveler, but always enjoyed coming home to her farm and her home in the West Virginia hills.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Rock Cave Cemetery, where interment will follow.
