Russell E. Wiant Jr., 51, a resident of Route 3, Norris Road, Philippi, passed away at 4:33 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002, at his residence. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Oct. 14, 1950, in Gilmer County, a son of Russell E. Wiant, who survives at Gilmer County, and the late Lucy M. Helmick Wiant.
He was united in marriage on May 4, 1979, to the former Emma J. McGee, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Donald Bollman, Portage, Pa.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Junior Blaine and wife, Susie Wiant, Belington, and Chad R. Wiant, at home; one sister, Linda Tomey, Webster Springs; two half sisters, Shelia Queen, Glenville, and Louise Wiant, Linn; two brothers, Darell E. Wiant, Gilmer County, and Larry G. Wiant, Esca, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Megan Wiant, Miranda Gray, T.J. Gray, Sara Bollman and Shannon Bollman.
He was employed as a truck driver for Talbott Lumber Co. at Belington. He was a minister at Hunter’s Fork Pentecostal Church.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 7 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Shirley Webster officiating. The eulogy will be given by the Rev. Richard Webster. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
