Ruth Frances Lewis 1928-2021 Obituary
Ruth Frances Parrish Lewis, age 92 years of Elkins, WV, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Davis Medical Center at Elkins, WV.
She was born Thursday, July 12, 1928 in Hopkins County, KY, to the late John Basil and Verlie Duncan Parrish. On May 22, 1950, she was married to Robert Lee Lewis, Sr., in Baltimore, MD. They enjoyed fifty-nine years of marriage.
Ruth was a proud mother of six children and grandmother to ten, each one being her pride and joy. She loved cooking for her family and friends, enjoyed quilting, making each grandchild their very own quilt. Ruth was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins, WV. She very much enjoyed being on the visitation and prayer team and she loved her Sunday School Class, both the fellowship and study. She was an avid student of God’s word.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Bobby; one son, David, and her brother, Noble Ray.
She is survived by her son, Robert Lee Lewis, Jr. of Elkins, WV; daughters, Nancy Lewis of Elkins, Mary Ann Leonard (Parker) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Betty Jo Legg (Rob) of Wilmington, NC and Judy Collins (John) of Kingsport, TN; daughter-in-law, Michelle Lewis of Stephens City, VA; and grandchildren, Michaela Lewis-lambert-vanscoy, Dr. Cassie Leonard, Will Leonard, II, James Legg, Thomas Legg, Rachel Collins Steffl, Samuel Collins, Maggie Collins Lopez, Nickelous Lewis and Amanda Lewis as well as thirteen great grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2:30 PM. The Rev. Marvin L. Parli will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 412 Randolph Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241.
