SANDRA KAY DAUGHERTY JONES, age 71 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Saturday afternoon at the Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Friday, January 27, 1939 at Philippi, WV a daughter of the late John Daugherty, Sr. and Margaret Burner Daugherty. On December 23, 1959 at Elkins, WV she was married to Ronald W. Jones, who survives. They had celebrated fifty years of marriage. Also surviving are one son, Martin Wayne Jones, PA; one daughter, Dianne Kay Volitis and husband Frank, Elkins; one brother, John “Sonny” Daugherty, Jr. and wife Joyce, OH; one sister, Nina Lou Olexa and husband Richard, OH; and three grandchildren, Mollie, Claire and Evan Jones.
Preceding her in death are two sisters, Shirley DiMauro and Mary Carpenter.
She attended the schools of Webster County, was a military wife and homemaker, was an accomplished seamstress and loved flowers, gardening and feeding her birds.
Mrs. Jones’ request for cremation was honored. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the family home, with the Reverend Doctor Basil A. Hensley officiating.
