Sandra “Sandy” Kay Matheny Yokum 1944-2021 Obituary
Sandra “Sandy” Kay Matheny Yokum, 77, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Saturday, June 19, 2021, at home with family by her side and under the care of West Virginia Hospice.
Sandy was born Wednesday, April 16, 1944, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Chester Thomas Matheny and Nora Virginia Williams, and Lena Marie Bell Matheny who raised her.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Kimmie Marie Conrad, Nora Virginia Armstead, and Heather Jean Welch and husband Greg, grandchildren, Gary Hartley Jr., Matthew Crossland, Jessica Shaffer, Roger Ramsey, Tammy Ramsey, Cassie Lambert, Brandon Armstead, Josh Armstead, Shelby Welch, seventeen great-grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Nevaeh, Peyton, Isabella, Brooklyn, Colten, Carson, Jaydon, Allen, Brian, Hailey, Michael, Alyssa, Alana, Isaac, Parker, Tim, and one sister in law, Ann Matheny.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was one son, Charles Everett Armstead, granddaughter, Niki Sue Hartley, great-granddaughter, Bailey Ann Coberly, and two siblings, Frankie Matheny and Doris Jean Hustead, one son in law, Henry Conrad, and the father of her four children, Eddie Wood “Bud” Armstead.
Sandy attended the schools of Harrison County and she had been employed as a caregiver for Select In Home Services. She enjoyed crocheting, working her word search books, and bird watching. Sandy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Beverly.
Visitation will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Beverly Wednesday, June 23, 2021, from 11 am until 1 pm, the funeral hour. Bishop Larry McArthur will officiate and interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.
