Sara Jane Donaldson, 78, a resident of Elkins and a patient in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center for the past three years, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Audy Yost and Mabelle Blaker Cunningham.
On July 21, 1951, she was married to Douglas “Sid” Donaldson, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1998.
She is survived by one son, Douglas Yost Donaldson of Elkins; one daughter, Cheryl Donaldson Mason, Cullman, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathon and Andrea Mason.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, John Blaker Cunningham and Yost Cunningham.
Mrs. Donaldson was a graduate of Elkins High School. She had been employed as a secretary at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., a former dental assistant for Dr. Shreves in Elkins, and was formerly employed as the church secretary at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.
At the request of the deceased her remains were cremated. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements
