Sharon Marie Martin, 54, of Valley Furnace community, Route 2, Philippi, died at approximately 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 29, 1948, at Philippi, a daughter of Wilma Evelyn Spurgeon Coffman, who survives at Route 1, Moatsville, and the late George Sherwood Coffman.
On Aug. 12, 1967, she was married to Ronald Lee Martin, who survives at the Valley Furnace community.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Cindy Beavers and husband, William, Grafton; three sisters, Mrs. Shirley Huffman and husband, Arnold, Bridgewater, Va., Mrs. Sheila Spessert and husband, Doug, Frederick, Md., and Mrs. Susan Blanton and husband, Tom, Akron, Ohio.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and was formerly employed as secretary at Kasson School. She was a member of the New Hope Valley United Methodist Church.
Friends may call at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and at the New Hope Valley United Methodist Church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Neil Parsons, chaplain for Hospice Care Corp. will officiate and interment will follow in New Hope Valley Cemetery. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
