Shirley Beardmore Lynn, 96, of Woodstock, Virginia, passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, at Greenfield in Woodstock.
A private graveside service will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan, Virginia. Pastor Kate Rascoe will officiate.
Mrs. Lynn was born Sept. 12, 1924 in Allamakee, Iowa, daughter of the late Arthur A. and Hazel Johnson Beardmore.
She graduated from Waukon, Iowa High School and attended Waukon Junior College. Before her marriage, she worked in Washington, D.C., and later for the USDA in Elkins, the Northern Virginia Daily in Strasburg, Virginia, and Farm Credit in Woodstock, Virginia. She was a member of Woodstock Presbyterian Church and active in the Women of the Church. She volunteered at the Clothes Closet, Food Pantry and the Woodstock Museum. She was a member of Randolph Chapter 74, Order of Eastern Star in Elkins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Lynn, whom she married on March 21, 1954, at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church in New Albin, Iowa, and her only sister, Lorraine Paus.
She is survived by two nieces, Donna Jewell and husband Mike, and Susan Carden; two great nieces, Hayden Rock and Hillary Seigel and two great nephews, Reed Carden and Drew Carden.
