Stella May Stalnaker, 85, a former resident of Valley Bend, and more recently a patient in Swisher’s Home Care at Beverly, passed away Saturday morning, April 13, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Monterville, a daughter of the late Lott and Laura Conrad Salisbury.
She was married to Harley Franklin Stalnaker, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one stepdaughter, Darlene Russell, Boynton Beach, Fla.; one stepgranddaughter, Sue Ellen Brown, Boynton Beach, Fla.; one stepgreat-grandson, Randy Brown; one stepgreat-great-granddaughter, Kristen; five nieces, Bernice Brown and Waynalea Salisbury, Valley Bend, Dora Winkler, Covington, Ky., Kathleen Reed, Parkersburg, and Portia Fortney of Buckhannon; and one nephew, Bryan Hamrick of Little Hocking, Ohio.
Also preceded her in death were one stepgreat-grandson, Ricky Brown; three brothers, Wayne Salisbury, Garland Salisbury and an infant; and one sister, Maude Hamrick.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kent Price officiating. Interment will follow in Stalnaker Cemetery at Point Mountain.
