Sybil Grey Corley, 94, of Valentine’s Personal Care Home of Elkins since 1991, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in the personal care home under the care of Mountain Hospice. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to heart failure.
Miss Corley was born Dec. 5, 1907, in Tighview, a daughter of the late Archibald Wilson Corley and Dora A. Corley.
She had never married.
Surviving are a brother, A.B. “Brownie” Corley, Buckhannon; five nephews, three nieces, several great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews, and a cousin.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilson and Thomas Corley.
Miss Corley attended the schools of Barbour County. She graduated from Belington High School in 1929 and Davis & Elkins College in 1932 where she received a business degree. She was a 37-year employee of Kelly Foundry and Machine Co. working in payroll, billing and clerical capacities. She was a member of Delphia Rebekah Lodge 62, Randolph Chapter 74, Order of the Eastern Star and the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She had attended the Weaver Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Lohr-barb-vance Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Walter H. Blough officiating. Interment will follow in K of P Cemetery in Junior.
