Sylvia Ethel Boyles, 90, of Route 2, Philippi, and a patient of Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care Facility for the past three years, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital, following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 23, 1911, at Moatsville, Barbour County, a daughter of the late Levi B. and Lovisa Columbia Murphy McVicker.
On Nov. 4, 1933, she was married to Ernest A. Boyles, who preceded her in death on March 6, 1972.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Betty Joan and Tommy Marsh; one grandson, Thomas Patrick Marsh; and one great-granddaughter, Lindsey Jo Marsh, all of Philippi.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Bessie Olive Digman; and one brother, Joy M. McVicker.
Mrs. Boyles was a homemaker and a Methodist. She was a member and past Noble Grand of Dorcas Rebekah Lodge No. 275 at Philippi.
Friends may call at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Nichols officiating. Dorcas Rebekah Lodge will conduct Rebekah services at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Mary’s Chapel Cemetery.
