Thomas Martin Goodwin II, 68, of New Bern, N.C., and Elkins, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at New Bern, N.C.
Mr. Goodwin was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Elkins, a son of the late Dr. Thomas M. Goodwin and Arlene Stickles Goodwin.
He was married to June Shimer Goodwin, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Alan Scott of New Bern, N.C.; one daughter, Sara Goodwin Hatley and husband, William; three sisters, Linda Phares, Philadelphia, Pa., Deborah Craddock of Virginia Beach, and Mary K. Coontz of Beverly; four grandchildren, Sierra and Samuel Hatley and Brandon and Logan Goodwin; and 31 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, David; one sister, Barbara Carrico; and his stepmother, Kathryn Kee.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a flight test engineer for Avionics Specialties in Charlottesville, Va., until his retirement.
He was always a kid at heart. He helped start the Northside baseball little league and was a starter for Fairview swim team long after his children graduated.
A celebration of life services will be held at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Saturday. Family will receive friends at his residence on Country Club Road in Elkins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
