Veda N. Daugherty, 88, of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Belington and a former resident of the Union community in Philippi, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 3, 1913, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Virgil and Cora Ervin Daugherty.
She is survived by one sister, Veva Ketchum, Philippi; and one brother, Eugene Daugherty of the Union community.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Erskell, Leon, Eddie and Bertsell Daugherty; and three sisters, Evelyn Findley, Claudette Burner and Novada Sinsel.
Mrs. Daugherty was a former employee of Westinghouse and worked for the railroad depot during World War II.
She was a member of the Union Church of Christ.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received after 3 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home in Philippi. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist R.D. Ice officiating. Interment will follow in the Pitman Cemetery.
