Vincent Carr 1916-2001 Obituary
Vincent A. Carr, 85, of Porterwood died July 26, at his home. He had been in declining health for three years.
He was born on April 14, 1916, at Pheasant Run, a son of the late Russell and Lovie Moran Carr. On Oct. 6, 1940, at Oakland, he was married to the former Ethel V. Waybright, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Keith W. (and Janet) Carr, Elkins, and Jerry Kent (and Marilyn) Carr, Lebanon, TN; a daughter, Carol (and the Rev. Carl) Sherman Pineville, NC: a brother, Alton E. “Remus” (and Gwen) Carr, Montrose; a sister, Mary Lou (and Bob) England, Montrose; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two step-grandsons.
One brother, Earl Carr, and one sister, Betty Oldaker, preceded him in death.
Mr. Carr attended the Riverview School and Parsons High School. He was employed as a school bus driver, worked for Dorman Woolen Mill, and retired from the WV Department of Highways.
He attended the Parsons Church of the Nazarene, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Friends were receved at Barb-Greenlief Funeral Home where funeral rites were conducted July 28.
Interment followed at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens, Gilman.
