OBITUARY: VIOLET LUCILLE CROSTON Violet Lucille Croston, 90, of Frost Run Road, Moatsville, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at her home, following a brief illness. She was born December 3, 1922, at Meriden (Philippi), a daughter of the late William Archie and Melvina Mae (Mayle) Poe. On October 15, 1952, she was married to Amos Croston, who preceded her in death on April 14, 2011. Surviving are one sister, Minnie Mae Mayle, Moatsville and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Opal Jasmine Mayle, Garnet Ruth Kennedy, Lillie Virginia Kennedy and Velma Burndetta Croston and by three brothers, William Poe Jr., Elwood Poe and Ersel Poe. Mrs. Croston was a homemaker and was a virtual mother and grandmother, to her nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2013, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Winfield Mayle will officiate and interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday and from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M., the funeral hour, on Saturday.
