Virgil J Bud Spore 1934-2013 Obituary
Virgil J. “Bud” Spore, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, October 25, 2013 at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
He was born June 5, 1934 in Gilmer County, WV, a son of the late Virgil Lee and Ora Wilmoth Spore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Faye Cobb Jenkins Spore; two brothers, Robert and Raymond Spore and three sisters, Reda Lowther, Mabel Lough and Annabell Lipps.
He is survived by four step sons, Gary Jenkins and wife Sally of Clearwater, FL, Rev. George Jenkins and wife Janice, Spencer Jenkins and Phillip Jenkins and wife Amberle all of Buckhannon; one step daughter, Sherry Bailey and husband James of Newton Falls, OH; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; twin sister, Virgie Landers of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. “Bud” was a member of the Hackers Creek Fellowship Church and the Gospel Barn Assembly in Barbour County.
He was a charter member of the Warren Dist. VFD, and a former Upshur County Constable.
He worked for K & M Mobile Homes, Kittle Construction and Scott Coal. Everyone knew him as the candy man.
He also loved church, gardening and his grandchildren.
Friends will be received Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 5 -8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day and Pastor Jim Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Church Cemetery in Hodgesville, WV. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
