Wanda Gay Haddix, 86, a resident of Route 1, Moatsville, passed away at 5:02 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, where she had been a patient for one week.
She was born Oct. 15, 1915, at Moatsville, a daughter of the late Ellis and Cassie Phillips McDaniel.
She was united in marriage Dec. 24, 1932, to George W. Haddix, who preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1974.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Berneda and husband, Gene Hardin, Moatsville; one son, Perry Lee Hardin, Moatsville; three sisters, Della Dmytryszyn, Baughman Towers, Philippi, Goldie Moran, Grafton, and Mrs. Harold (Margurette) Boliner, Webster; two brothers, Wilbert and wife, Claris McDaniel, Philippi, and Wilford McDaniel and friend, Judy, Youngstown, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Mora McDaniel and Ruth McDaniel; three grandchildren, Brenda D. Dumire and husband, Fred, Sandra J. Bender and husband, Kevin and Duard C. Hardin Jr. and wife, Regina; and eight great-grandchildren, William Gene Dumire and wife, Teresa, Bradly Len Dumire and fiance, Jamie Lantz, Joshua George Dumire, Christina M. Bender, Kevin L. Bender, Christopher H. Hardin, Thomas Hardin and Oliva J. Hardin.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Holbert Haddix; three brothers, Charles McDaniel, Stanley McDaniel and Odbert McDaniel; one sister, Cleota Huffman; and one infant sister, Pearl McDaniel.
Mrs. Haddix was a homemaker. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devoted caregiver to her son, Perry, for 59 years. She was a member of the Clemtown United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 3 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dot Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Clemtown Cemetery.
