William E. “Bill” McKnight, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born October 23, 1932 in Burnsville, WV, a son of the late Edgar Camp McKnight and Annabelle Teter McKnight Taylor. On September 10, 1951 he married Patricia Louise Kuhl who preceded him in death on May 2, 2008. He is survived by four daughters, Debra Hupp and husband Tom of Buckhannon, Aleece Williams and husband Dale, of Buckhannon, Twila Heffelfinger and husband Rich of Charleston, WV and Marsha Gregory and husband Ron of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Tiffany Stanton and husband Dennis of Clarksburg, WV, Samantha Gregory of Buckhannon and Heather Earl of Charleston; four grandsons, Justin Williams of Buckhannon, Brock and Blake Heffelfinger both of Charleston and Jamison Hupp of Greenville, SC; two great grandsons, Trey Stanton of Clarksburg and Casset Earl of Charleston; two sisters-in-law, Dolores McKnight of OH, and Wanda Pratt and husband Kenneth of VA; three brothers-in-law, David Kuhl and wife Marge, Harold Kuhl and wife Vicki and Jerry Brooks and wife Diana all of OH; several nieces, nephews , extended family and friends and his faithful companion, his dog Buck. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother Byron McKnight. Mr. McKnight was a Christian by faith and member of the Buckhannon Jaycees and Past President of the WV Strawberry Festival Association. He was also a member of USS Terrebonne Parish (LST 1156) Association and several other national organizations, and received awards from Burnsville Alumni, Rotary, WV Strawberry Festival and numerous other organizations. He was the owner of the Wooden Nickel (Dairy King), K and M Mobile Home, Central Towing, U-haul Rentals and McKnight Sales and Service. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 3-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow at the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens at Heaters, WV. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
