William King Straw, 86, a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 22, 1915, at Weston, a son of the late Elmer D. and Dora McWhorter Straw.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Gardner Straw; two daughters, Kathryn Straw Vaughan and husband, John H. Vaughan and Arlena Straw; one sister, Mary Stalnaker of Jackson, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Straw was a veteran of World War II and served on special assignment at the Naval Base in San Diego, Calif. He was retired from the Memorial General Hospital where he worked as a purchasing agent. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, where he was a past Grand Noble and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins.
Friends and family may call at the Straw family residence at 328 Graham St., Elkins on Thursday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Elkins at 2 p.m. Saturday with Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Flowers are to be omitted and memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1410 Crim Ave., Belington, W.Va. 26250 or the Salvation Army, 203 Randolph Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241.
