William Von Bennett, age 85, a resident of Parsons departed to his heavenly home on Friday May 27, 2011 while working in his lawn. He was born Monday February 15, 1926 the son of Walter and Lula Hedrick Bennett of Whitmer, WV. In 1951, he was married to Mildred L. Bennett at Oakland Maryland, who survives. He was employed at the Kelly Foundry, worked at the Parsons Tannery for 25 years and also worked for A & A Construction, the City of Parsons and as the maintenance supervisor at the Tucker County Hospital. He attended the Parsons Church of God and was Pentecostal by faith. He enjoyed hunting, flowers and gardening and had received the Garden of the Month Award. Left to cherish his memory besides his wife of 59 ½ years is his son William A. Bennett of Harrisonburg, VA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel Tuesday May 31st from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday June 1st at 11 AM with The Reverend Eli Hostetler and The Reverend Faye Moyer officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thomas.
