Wilson B. Taylor, 84, left this world Monday, October 7, 2013. A longtime Randolph County resident, he lived most of his life in the Beverly and Mill Creek area. Recently, he had resided in Tornado and Scott Depot. Wilson was born Thursday, December 6, 1928 in Mill Creek, a son of the late Harrison Taylor and Ethel McCollam Taylor. Wilson attended the school in Mill Creek, graduating from Tygarts Valley High School. After high school, Wilson worked a few years with his father cutting timber with a double bit axe and cross-cut saw. He was then employed as a construction apprentice, helping to build United Fuel & Gas (later Columbia Gas) Company’s Files Creek Compressor Station. Upon completion of the plant, he was employed by united Fuel & Gas. He worked as an operator and later as an electrician for Columbia Gas for over thirty-one years. He entered retirement in 1985. He was a member, and past president, of the Randolph County Tax Study Association. Wilson thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. Whether it was camping, hunting, fishing, or working in his garden, he preferred to be outside. In addition to his parents, proceeding him in death were his wife of fifty-three years, Lina Mae Tackett Taylor, and sister, Louise Taylor Denny. He is survived by his son, Steven Taylor and wife, Mary, two granddaughters, Annette Fergueson and husband, Danny, and Michelle Taylor and husband, Benjamin Ball, two great grandchildren, Jessica and Zachary Farrell. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10, 2013, from 12 noon until 2PM, the funeral hour. Rev. Mike House will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville. The family would like to offer their profound appreciation to Hospice Care, Hubbard House West, and the employees of Regency Place Assisted Living in Scott Depot. Memorial contributions may be made in Wilson’s memory to Hospice Care Corp. 169 Diamond Street, Elkins, WV 26241, to WV Alzheimer’s Association, 1601 2nd Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387, or to the charity of your choice.
